The New Reykjavik Trio holds its first performance in Harpa on May 23, 2027. The trio is composed of violinist Herdís Mjöll Guðmundsdóttir, cellist Geirþrúður Anna Guðmundsdóttir and pianist Liam Kaplan. Immediately after its founding in 2025, the group received stellar reviews for their "incredible compatibility" og "dynamic and poetic performance" (Morgunblaðið). The goal of the ensemble is to carry on the remarkable legacy of Trio Reykjavik.

Ravel’s duo for violin and cello is both lyrical and virtuosic. Two pieces by Lili Boulanger spun from the same melody reflect joy and melancholy. Both were originally orchestral works heard here in Boulanger’s own arrangement for piano trio. D’un matin de printemps and D’un soir triste form a bridge that leads us into the fairy-tale world of Ravel's Piano Trio in A minor.

Programme

Maurice Ravel: Duo for violin and cello
Lili Boulanger: D’un matin de printemps and D’un soir triste
