Sigríður Hjördís Önnudóttir began her musical studies in 2002 in Akranes, from where she continued her studies at the Reykjavík School of Music under the guidance of Hallfríður Ólafsdóttir. Sigríður was one of the winners of the Reykjavík School of Music’s soloist competition in 2013 and as a result played a solo with the school’s string ensemble. In the fall of 2014, Sigríður moved to Antwerp and studied there for a Bachelor’s degree at the Royal Academy of the Arts in Antwerp under the guidance of Aldo Baertens until she enrolled at the Iceland Academy of the Arts in the fall of 2015. In November 2015, Sigríður was one of the soloists who played a solo with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra at the “young soloists” concert. Sigríður graduated from the Iceland Academy of the Arts with a bachelor's degree in the fall of 2017.
She went to Pittsburgh in 2022 to pursue further studies, a Master of Performance, and graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 2024, where her teacher was Lorna McGhee. She has now returned home and works as a flute teacher and substitute in the Iceland Symphony Orchestra.
